What are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Director of Procurement to lead all GPO & procurement activities across our firm, supporting a diverse portfolio of companies. In this strategic consulting role, you will act as a trusted advisor and subject- matter expert, leveraging deep procurement expertise to develop and execute cost-saving strategies, negotiate vendor agreements, and foster strong supplier relationships.

As a key consulting partner, you will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and client organizations, optimizing procurement operations and driving measurable value creation.  As a key contributor to the GPO launch, this position will be instrumental in implementing the program and establishing a strong foundation for its growth. Over time, the role will evolve to oversee a team of procurement specialists, driving continuous improvement and scalability. Given this trajectory, a strategic leadership mindset is essential to ensure long-term success and impact.

Key Responsibilities:

GPO Management & Procurement Strategy

  • Act as the subject matter expert on GPO activities, ensuring portfolio companies achieve maximum cost savings and operational efficiencies.

  • Develop, execute, and monitor procurement strategies to reduce costs across all portfolio companies.

  • Negotiate contracts, agreements, and pricing with vendors and service providers on behalf of portfolio companies.

  • Securing the primary contract management software used to manage the contract lifecycle management (CLM) for each Portfolio Company’s vendor environment.

  • Evaluate and onboard new vendors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.

  • Analyze market trends and purchasing data to identify opportunities for additional savings and value creation.

Vendor & Stakeholder Relations

  • Serve as the primary representative of portfolio companies in vendor negotiations, building strong and collaborative relationships.

  • Resolve disputes with vendors or service providers and ensure timely execution of agreements.

  • Facilitate communication between portfolio companies and vendors to address needs and streamline operations.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of 2–3 professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

  • Oversee team activities, including data analysis, supplier evaluations, and contract management.

  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities in procurement and vendor management.

Operational Excellence

  • Develop KPIs to measure the performance of GPO initiatives and continuously improve processes.

  • Prepare and present regular reports on cost savings, contract performance, and vendor compliance to senior leadership.

  • Implement best practices in procurement and supply chain management to benefit portfolio companies.

Job requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in procurement, vendor management, or GPO activities, preferably in a multi-company or portfolio environment.

  • Proven experience in contract negotiation, cost reduction strategies, and supplier relationship management.

  • 3+ years of experience managing a team, with demonstrated leadership and mentorship abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with vendors, portfolio companies, and internal teams.

  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in analyzing purchasing data and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Proficiency in procurement tools and software (e.g., ERP systems, contract management platforms).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a private equity, investment firm, or multi-company environment.

  • Certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP).
